Will RPA Reduce Job In Future

In coming years, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has gained tremendous momentum and it has become big topic for the many experts for debating on forums and industry related programmes. At the same time, many firms argue that the emergence of RPA doesn’t necessarily lead to the loss of jobs, instead it would only eliminate certain redundant tasks. It is quite alarming and at the same time dynamic as the industry is progressing towards eliminating menial tasks that could otherwise be handled by robots. Since Robotic Process Automation can effectively replace human workers performing repetitive, manual tasks, it is becoming increasingly clear that the rise of RPA will have a huge effect on the modern workforce. According to a study by researchers at Oxford University, about 35% of the current jobs in Britain are at a high risk of being computerized over the span of 20 years. According to some estimates, almost half of the jobs lost in the United States over the last twenty years are gone because they were replaced by RPA. Due to this advantage, the rise of RPA will cause the loss of both local and overseas jobs. Many unskilled and even skilled workers will run out of jobs.

If your job meets any of the following criteria, it most likely suitable for RPA:

  • Many (stable) Application
  • High Volume Work And Handle Time
  • Prone To Error
  • Highly Rule Based , Highly Manual And Large Team Involvement
  • Process Adherence Is Important
  • Screen Navigation And Field Entry
  • Mouse Selection, Copy And Paste
  • Web Services Invocation And DB Queries
  • Log In/Out Of Application.

Many would also argue that this is actually a good thing. The rise of RPA is thus forcing humans to focus on more creative tasks since robots will take over the boring, repetitive work such as updating of information into several databases. Seen in this light, automation will enable human workers to turn towards more rewarding work. They can focus on tasks that humans do best such as planning, creative brainstorming for new ideas, speaking to a customer and convincing him to buy more products, etc.
